When you have a tooth extracted, the tooth roots leave behind an empty socket within the jaw bone. Without bone grafting treatment, this socket can break down, leading to surrounding teeth shifting to fill the area. Socket preservation is a bone grafting technique used to fill the empty area and preserve the structure of your jaw and smile. Once the bone graft has healed, we will be able to replace the extracted tooth with a dental implant.

If tooth loss is left untreated, the lack of stimulation normally provided by tooth roots will result in jaw bone loss. If you have bone loss caused by untreated tooth loss or if you have removable dentures that have worn away at your jaw bone, we can restore you to proper bone levels with ridge augmentation. This form of bone grafting places bone material at areas where loss has occurred. Once healed, the ridge of the jaw will be restored to an even, healthy and functional level.

If you have had upper molars extracted or lost, replacing them is more challenging due to the sinus cavity that resides just above them. In many cases, if this bone recedes, the sinus cavity will expand and fill this area. We offer sinus lift bone grafting treatments, which can gently raise the sinus membrane in order to add bone volume beneath the sinus cavity. 

In order for a dental implant to be successful, you must have the proper bone volume to support the implant post. By restoring your jaw bone volume, the bone will fuse with the implant to give it a solid hold, much like how natural teeth are held in place.
